“Grace makes you more like Him…. Any time you release faith in the truth, grace comes to make that truth your reality. That doesn’t happen because you bit your lip to believe better, but because you have simple child-like faith in God’s word, and grace comes to make it your reality.”
With such words, Dan Mohler emphasizes that it is by grace through our faith in Christ that we are transformed into His image; our transformation is NOT a result of our works, our trying to become something God has already made and continues to make us in Christ. The following is my partial transcript from midway through the short video posted on YouTube entitled “Dan Mohler – How does the Holy Spirit convict the world?” slightly modified for ease of reading.

If you teach grace apart from transformation it’s perversion, because grace is the etching tool of God, His workmanship that makes you more like Him. Don’t confuse mercy and grace. Mercy gives you a chance when you deserve none. Grace makes you more like Him when you have repented and given your heart back to Him. Grace kicks in at water baptism when folks stand up and say, “I’m selling out to Jesus, I’m giving Him my all!” Grace meets them as they come out of the baptismal waters.
Grace empowers you. You’re saved by grace through faith. Every time you release faith in the truth (what Jesus says!) regardless of what you feel, grace comes to make that truth your reality and let you have a knowing in your heart. It’s not a blind faith, but you KNOW you’re right with God, you KNOW He forgives you, you KNOW He’s good, you KNOW you have destiny, and you KNOW your life has purpose! Any time you release faith in the truth, grace comes to make that truth your reality. That doesn’t happen because you bit your lip to believe better, but because you have simple child-like faith in God’s word, and grace comes to make it your reality.

This is what I mean when I talk about becoming love. The thing you have to line up with is not works; you position yourself by sincerely wanting to be more like Him. You get alone and talk to the Lord about wanting to be more like Him. The Holy Spirit gets so excited, and He starts doing a work inside of you. You encounter situations where you used to be one way and all of a sudden you’re different, and you don’t even know how. You can hardly explain it, but you know that you’ve been with Him. You know that you sincerely want to respond differently. You’re not just trying to get a grip on your actions; you’ve been ALONE with Him!
All of a sudden people notice you’re really different, and you can’t explain how it occurred, because you didn’t bite your lip to change, you just know that you’ve been with Him and that you wanted to change. Now you’re weeping and you love Him all the more because He is AMAZING. And guess who gets all the glory?! [Big smile.]
So there’s no super-Christian. It’s just an amazing God and people who believe.
