In Quietness and Trust is Your Strength

God has done an astounding merciful work: because of His great love for us, He has raised repentant sinners to His right hand here in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6). May God grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation to apprehend more of the riches of this glorious truth right now. Let us leave all our burdens at the Cross, pause, and meditate on this: we are one with the resurrected and glorified Lord! He lives in us! We are His bride, and He purifies us from all unrighteousness! He enables us to resist the lies of the already crucified sin nature by speaking the truth in love – we remain free from captivity! (See Heb. 4:9-11; 1John 1:9, 3:24; Ro. 6:14; Isaiah 61:1)

Praise God for loving us so! May we be rooted and grounded together in this four-dimensional love of Christ that surpasses knowledge! (See Eph. 3:14-19)

Now, know that by grace through faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead we are supernaturally empowered to return to this blessed state of rest every time we call upon the name of our LordWe live the exceedingly abundant Life now as we repeatedly humble ourselves throughout the day and call upon Him, casting our anxiety on Him because He cares for us (see Romans 10:13-15; 1Peter 5:6-7). I tell you, do not worry about your life; …come to me to have life (Matt. 6:25; John 5:40).  It is His covenant with us to care for us.

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength (Isaiah 30:15). Quietness follows this repentant humbling, this relinquishing of self-effort and falling upon God. We trust our omnipotent Father, Savior, and Sanctifier to produce His fruit in and through our branches as we simply abide in the Vine. Loving us just as we are (!!), our Lord performs all the work He requires of us as we rest and trust Him to live through the members of His holy Body (see John 5:19, 15:5). Such a glorious gospel of grace! Such freedom and peace!

By design, God’s power is made perfect in human weakness. Then, praise God, as we come to know and accept our inability to do anything of ourselves, we actually begin to rejoice in our weaknesses: I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. …I delight in weaknesses… For when I am weak, then I am strong (2Cor. 12:9-10). Link that with the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord resting upon Jesus because He submitted His soul to God (see Is. 61:1). God worked countless miracles through Jesus Christ because He knew God’s extravagant love for Him and chose to relinquish the lie of self-preservation. He was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by God’s power. Likewise, we are weak in him, yet by God’s power we will live with him to serve you (2Cor 13:4). Hallelujah!

Letting nothing disturb my calm in Christ with you, your sister deanna.
